I haven’t gotten the food thing figured out, yet, but Al loaned me a pill caddy for the diabetes medication. My appointment with the dietitian isn’t until the eleventh of next month, and so I am winging it.
I found a “plate” method that helped me to visualize meals: 50% non-starch vegetables, 25% protein, and 25% grains/starches. I also came across a “clock” that laid out three meals and morning, afternoon and evening snacks. (I think that I have 1600 calories to divide among ’em. I will deal with portions, scales, &c at some point. With a starting point of 399 blood sugar level on the 13th, I’ve actually had two readings below 200, yesterday and today.)
I do enjoy cooking, when I can justify making time for it. I always have tuna, HB eggs, and salad greens, but I’ve picked up some other foods that I don’t fix on a regular basis.
Yesterday, I added steamed asparagus to my breakfast. Discovered that a two-egg omelet is too much for me, and so I cut back to one egg, this morning, and one piece of toast.

I also bought a spaghetti squash. I’d never heard of them, but when I was visiting with my sister on the east coast, who, I discovered, was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes in 2015, she mentioned giving up pasta but finding spaghetti squash a satisfying substitute. It keeps for a week or more in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. I divided it into four portions, but I think I could comfortably spread the squash out over six meals.

I have fresh fruit and yogurt for between meal snacks. I ate all the nuts. Should have gotten more when we did the last grocery run before the ice storm and blizzard. Payday, tomorrow, and hopefully a foray. The graupel made for drivable streets, so Al was able to make bulls-eye practice, this evening.
Not going to get anything done, if I don’t get to sleep soon.
As far as tracking my weight, I am going to start over fresh—forget about the higher numbers. As of the 13th, I had lost 20% of my weight body over the past five years. Actually dieting, as I now will be, I expect to lose the same number of pounds during the next nine months.
